Biography

Paul Sracic is a nonresident senior fellow at Hudson Institute.

His work focuses on trade policy, working-class voters, and United States–Asia relations. Dr. Sracic was for many years the chair of the Department of Politics and International Relations at Youngstown State University in Ohio and currently serves as senior advisor to the 316 Group in Columbus, Ohio.

Dr. Sracic has authored or coauthored multiple books on American politics and law. He is regularly featured in the US and international media, and has written for The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, The Atlantic, and Bloomberg. He has appeared on major news networks in the United States and served as the in-studio analyst for NHK World Japan during their coverage of the 2020 and 2024 US presidential elections.

Dr. Sracic was twice named a Fulbright Scholar in Japan, serving as a visiting professor at the University of Tokyo, Waseda University, Sophia University, and Yokohama National University. In addition, he has lectured at universities throughout Europe and Asia, including Peking University, Beijing Foreign Studies University, Chungbuk University, Trinity College Dublin, Vilnius University, Riga Stradins University, Sofia University, University of Leuven, the University of Malta, the University of Florence, and the University of Milan. He has also given talks at the Diplomatic Roundtable at the Japan Forum on International Relations, Mathias Corvinus Collegium in Hungary, the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the Institute of International and European Affairs, and US embassy facilities in Brussels, Dublin, Tokyo, Beijing, and Rome.

Dr. Sracic received his PhD in political science from Rutgers University and BA in economics and political science from Albright College.
