Claudia Sheinbaum’s resounding win in Mexico’s June 7 elections, along with her party’s victories in legislative and gubernatorial elections, marks the ascendancy of President López Obrador’s Morena movement and ensures the continuation of his program of state-directed investment and social programs.
As president, Sheinbaum will face a variety of pressing challenges, including unprecedented violence, energy and water shortages, and unrealized economic potential.
