In The New Class War: Saving Democracy from the Managerial Elite, author Michael Lind argues the origins of this are complex, but the results have urgent consequences: western democracies are being torn apart by a new class war.
According to Lind, to save democracy western democracies must incorporate working-class majorities of all races, ethnicities, and creeds into decision making in politics, the economy, and culture. If they don't, they risk perpetuating a never-ending cycle of clashes between globalists and populists.

Michael Lind is a professor of practice at the Lyndon B. Vance is a visiting fellow at the American Enterprise Institute, where he studies the social impact of economic policy, globalization, and capital investment.
