Our military faces its most serious recruitment and retention crisis since the end of the Vietnam War. In fact, the Army ended the last fiscal year failing to meet its recruitment goal by 25 percent, falling nearly 15,000 soldiers short. If recruitment continues on this downward trajectory, our country’s overall standard of military readiness could face a bleak future.
