Guam is a strategic hub for U.S. power projection in the Western Pacific. China poses a significant missile threat to this U.S. territory and can hit targets on Guam with ballistic missiles from the land, and ballistic and cruise missiles from air and maritime platforms. Due to its strategic importance and the risks it faces from China and North Korea, the Indo-Pacific Command and the Missile Defense Agency have made defending Guam a top priority.
