Last month, President Trump sent his FY 2021 budget to Congress. Since then, the administration and lawmakers remain at odds over the amount of spending allocated to defense and the military.

Despite proposed spending increases in President Trump’s first three defense budgets, questions remain whether the funding, as determined by the recent budget deal, is enough to support our National Defense Strategy. At stake is the question of modernization and size of the U.S. combat fleet.

Join Hudson Institute for a conversation with Representative Joe Courtney, chairman of the House Armed Services Subcommittee on Seapower and Projection Forces, and Representative Rob Wittman, ranking member of the same subcommittee, as they discuss their shared concerns about the size, pace, and effectiveness of U.S. efforts to maintain the world's best military.
