U.S. Antitrust Policy: A Discussion with Assistant Attorney General Makan Delrahim

Markets that are competitive yield lower prices, greater innovation, increased quality, and more consumer-friendly services than non-competitive markets. Americans benefit greatly from a competitive market place and the federal antitrust authorities that underpin them. The Center for the Economics of the Internet will host Assistant Attorney General for Antitrust Makan Delrahim to discuss current antitrust issues with Hudson Institute Senior Fellow Harold Furchtgott-Roth.

Mr. Delrahim leads the Antitrust Division at the U.S. Justice Department whose mission is to "promote economic competition through enforcing and providing guidance on antitrust laws and principles." He previously served as Deputy Assistant to the President and Deputy White House Counsel and on the Attorney General’s Task Force on Intellectual Property. He also served as Chairman of the Merger Working Group of the International Competition Network. Mr. Delrahim’s extensive antitrust background has involved the full range of industries, issues, and institutions touched upon by the work of the Antitrust Division.
