Marking the 70th anniversary of U.S.-Indonesian diplomatic relations, Hudson Institute, the U.S.-Indonesia Society (USINDO), and the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia will host a symposium to explore the history of the bilateral relationship, discuss future opportunities and challenges facing the world’s second and third largest democracies, and ways to enhance the relationship in the future.

Experts, diplomats, and historians from both countries will discuss the important and sometimes tumultuous early history of the bilateral relationship, which frames the relationship between the two countries today. Following an update from policymakers on the current state of the growing U.S.-Indonesian strategic partnership, an expert panel will consider ways to enhance the partnership and the possible trajectory of the relationship.
