Hudson Institute will host an event with Ambassador William F. Hagerty to discuss the future of U.S.-Japan relations. The conversation will be moderated by Hudson’s Asia-Pacific Security Chair Patrick M. Cronin.

This timely discussion comes on the heels of renewed trade talks and an important joint statement issued by the Japan-U.S. Security Consultative Committee, and ahead of Japan Prime Minister Shinzo Abe’s visit to Washington. The two countries account for about 30 percent of the global economy and reaching a new trade agreement is vital to advancing the interests of both countries. At the same time, the United States and Japan are keen to develop cooperation in emerging domains in order to manage a range of challenges in the Indo-Pacific region, including major-power competition.

This event is part of the first in a series hosted by Hudson’s newly endowed Japan Chair.

**NOTE: This event is open to the press. All members of the media should RSVP to [email protected].**
