In 2010, the Federal Communications Commission promulgated regulations titled "Preserving the Open Internet," which limited the commercial behavior of Internet providers. Verizon brought a court challenge to these regulations, commonly known as "network neutrality" rules, arguing that they exceeded the FCC's statutory authority and violated the First and Fifth Amendments to the Constitution.
On October 10, 2013, Hudson Institute's Center for the Economics hosted a panel discussion on the past present and future of the Commission's network neutrality rules, welcoming current Federal Trade Commissioner Maureen Ohlhausen as a special guest and participant.
